What’s the difference between your stool softeners?

Dulcolax Pink Stool Softener for women and Dulcolax Stool Softener have different inactive ingredients. Dulcolax Pink still contains the same efficacious active ingredient, docusate sodium, at the same strength as our other softener.

What time of day should I take it?

Take it anytime you need. It generally produces a bowel movement within 12 to 72 hours.

How often can I take Dulcolax Pink® Stool Softener? How many can I take and is it safe for daily use?

You can take up to 3 a day for up to 7 days. They may be taken all together or in divided doses. If needed for more than 7 days, please consult a doctor.

Do women suffer from constipation more than men?

Is constipation more of a problem during pregnancy?

Things can slow down during pregnancy because your body is making more of the female hormone progesterone, which relaxes the bowel muscles and makes it harder to do their job. Use

  • for relief of occasional constipation and irregularity
  • this product generally produces bowel movement in 12 to 72 hours

Warnings

  • Do not use if you are presently taking mineral oil

Ask a doctor before use if you have:

  • stomach pain, nausea or vomiting
  • noticed a sudden change in bowel habits that lasts more than 2 weeks

Stop use and ask a doctor if

  • you have rectal bleeding or no bowel movement after using this product. These could be signs of a serious condition.
  • you need to use a laxative for more than 1 week

  • If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.
  • Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

Directions

  • take with a glass of water

      adults and children 12 years of age and over

      1 to 3 capsules daily. This dose may be taken as a single daily dose or in divided doses.
